FAQs
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are designed to replace the roots of missing teeth. They are placed into the jawbone during a minor surgical procedure that takes place in the dental office. After the implant has been placed, a natural-looking porcelain crown is attached. In some cases, new (but temporary) teeth may be placed on the dental implant until your permenant ones come back from the lab.
How many teeth can be replaced with dental implants?
We can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or all of your teeth. However, you don’t need one implant for every missing tooth. Often, only four to six implants can provide support for a full, replacement set of upper or lower teeth.
Is dental implant surgery painful?
Most people find dental implant procedures very easy to tolerate. Any post-operative discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen.
Are dental implants expensive?
Implants may seem more expensive than other tooth-replacement methods such as dentures or bridgework. However, since implants are the closest thing to real teeth and last longer than other options, they are often the most cost-effective option.
